Ongeloof en hilariteit op social media over Algarve: “Mirakel dat er geen ongelukken waren”
De mislukte massasprint in de Ronde van de Algarve heeft op sociale media voor veel reacties gezorgd. Er was bij veel volgers verwarring en ongeloof over de situatie: bijna het hele peloton reed verkeerd en kwam parallel aan de finishstraat terecht, terwijl Filippo Ganna op de échte finish won. Ook was er veel hilariteit over het tafereel, maar ook werd de vraag opgeroepen: wie is hier verantwoordelijk voor? WielerFlits bundelt berichten op sociale media.
Geraint Thomas zat in het peloton en kon lachen om de situatie. “Wat is hier gebeurd? Grande casino!”, roept hij op sociale media. Oud-wielrenner en commentator Daniel Lloyd grapt op zijn beurt over Netflix, dat onlangs aankondigde te stoppen met de Tour de France-serie. “Netflix moet er kapot van zijn. Zo’n verhaal krijgen ze nooit in de F1…”
Andere wielervolgers delen beelden waarop te zien is dat er auto’s en motoragenten staan op de weg waar de verkeerd gereden renners ‘sprinten’. Ook staan daar toeschouwers langs de kant, die in verwarring zijn en aan twee kanten plotseling wielrenners zien passeren.

The riders are supposed to take the left yellow line around the roundabout at 700m but the right side was completely open (for the cars) and looks like the fastest line.
