Stage winner Michel Pollentier, who also took the yellow jersey after the stage, was expelled from the Tour after being caught cheating: he attempted to submit someone else's urine to the official, just like Antoine Gutierrez, who was disqualified for the same reason. Pollentier was fined 1,000 Swiss francs and suspended for two months.
