Nadat de WADA vorige week binnen enkele dagen tijd bekend maakte een onderzoek naar Chris Froome’s TUE te starten en weer te sluiten, spreekt Brian Cookson zich nu uit over de kwestie. De UCI-voorzitter zegt dat beide bonden gaan samenwerken om de procedure voor de ‘Therapeutic Use Exemptions’ te beoordelen.

“Om dit soort controversie in de toekomst te voorkomen, zullen we de procedures onmiddellijk versterken”, vertelt Cookson op Twitter. “En op de langere termijn zal de UCI met de WADA gaan samenwerken om het hele systeem van TUE’s in de wielersport te herzien.”

So: nobody cheated, nobody lied, nobody got exceptional treatment. Procedures in place were followed, +WADA confirmed TUE was in order.1/3
