Stage 6 Jerez de la Frontera - Yunquera (185.5km)

In the sixth stage of the Vuelta, the peloton heads to the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, where there will again be a mountain-top finish. However, we likely won't see significant differences between the general classification riders.

From Wednesday to Thursday, the Vuelta circus moves south to the starting point in Jerez de la Frontera, which had the honor of hosting the Gran Salida in 2014. This place is also known for its sherry wines.

This area is still relatively flat: it isn't until after 50 kilometers that the stage starts to climb in earnest, with the second first-category climb of this Vuelta appearing. This is the Puerto del Boyar (15 km at 5.7 percent) with maximum gradients of ten percent.

In theory, the hardest climb of the day is then over. In practice, the stage will just be getting started, with four more third-category climbs. First, there are the Alto de Ronda (5.9 km at 4.6 percent), the Puerto del Viento (6.9 km at 4.1 percent), and the easier Puerto Martinez (3.8 km at 5.5 percent) before finishing on the Alto de las Abejas (9.3 km at 4 percent).

The final climb is never really difficult, and there are no insane gradients this time. The finish is in Yunquera: the Vuelta has never been here before.
