A day after the prologue, the NIBC Tour of Holland remains in South Holland. On the border with North Brabant, a stage awaits with both start and finish in Dordrecht. Along the way, the peloton will ride through the Alblasserwaard.

The first real stage of the Tour of Holland covers just 115 kilometers. At around 1:45 p.m., the start signal will sound at Statenplan, after which the riders will enjoy a scenic neutralized section through the historic city center of Dordrecht and Zwijndrecht. The official start is at 2:20 p.m., once the riders have crossed the Alblasserdam Bridge.

In the Alblasserwaard, the riders face a beautiful circuit that must be completed five times in total. The course takes them for long stretches along the Lekdijk past Alblasserdam, Nieuw-Lekkerland, and the heritage site of Kinderdijk: the nineteen windmills listed by UNESCO. Cutting back inland, the riders follow the Alblas River past Oud-Alblas and return to Alblasserdam, where the loop begins again.

In the finale, the riders cross the Alblasserdam Bridge once more, before the finish line awaits on the Zwijndrecht Bridge, right next to Dordrecht.
