Stage 2 Dordrecht - Rotterdam (69.7km)

On the second day, the riders will face two stages. The day begins with a morning stage starting in Dordrecht, by the Oude Maas River. From the northern part of the municipality, the peloton will travel through Oud-Alblas, Nieuw-Lekkerland, Ridderkerk, and Barendrecht before reaching Rotterdam. The finish of the second stage will be in central Rotterdam, along the Boompjes by the Nieuwe Maas, not far from the Erasmus Bridge.

The profile of this stage is again perfectly flat. While the organizers included a trick for mountain points in the first stage, this time there are no obstacles along the way. The stage is also quite short, with the riders covering only 67 kilometers before finishing in Rotterdam.

A 'boring' start often means an exciting finish. The anticipated mass sprint should make for a thrilling conclusion. We can therefore say that the beginning of the Tour de France Femmes is tailored for the sprinters. Moreover, the winner of the opening stage will likely have a strong chance to defend the leader's jersey and start the afternoon’s individual time trial in yellow.

Loyal cycling fans will remember the days of having two stages on one day from past eras. In the Tour de France, the combination of a time trial and a road stage was once a popular choice for course designers. The last time two stages were held in one day in La Grande Boucle was in 1991.

That year, the peloton started in the morning with a 114-kilometer stage from and to Lyon. In the centrally located city of Lyon, Djamolidine Abduzhaparov was the fastest. That afternoon, there was a team time trial between Bron and Chassieu, which was won by the Italian team Ariostea.
