Stage 5 Lannemezan - Pau (158.0km)

After four days of racing through the Catalan hills and the Pyrenees, the sprinters will finally get their first mass sprint on day five—at least, that is the expectation. The stage takes the riders from Lannemezan to Pau.

The stage is only 158 kilometers long and makes a northern loop around the Pyrenees, largely through the Gers Valley. When the riders reach Vic-en-Bigorre, there are still 45 kilometers left to the finish in Pau. Here, three small climbs follow within twelve kilometers: the Côte de Casteide-Doat (1.5 kilometers at 5.1%), Côte de Flancart (1 kilometer at 6.4%), and Côte de Baleix (1.3 kilometers at 7%).

After that last climb, 26 flat kilometers remain to the finish in Pau, where a Tour stage will end for the 64th time in history. The last time the Tour finished in Pau was in 2024, when Jasper Philipsen took the victory.
