Stage 14 Mulhouse - Le Markstein (155.0km)

Fireworks are expected in the fourteenth stage of the Tour de France. On Saturday, the peloton is truly in the Vosges and will tackle almost all the well-known climbs. The stage covers 155 kilometers in total and starts in the afternoon from Mulhouse.

From Mulhouse, the riders quickly reach the foot of the first climb of the day: the Grand Ballon (21.5 kilometers at 4.8%). Although the climb can be approached from seven different sides, it is actually tougher than it looks on paper. This is because there are some flat and descending sections within the climb. Remove those, and about fifteen kilometers remain at gradients of 7 to 8 percent.

After the Grand Ballon, the riders descend to the first passage of the finish in Le Markstein, followed by a middle section including the Col du Page (9.8 kilometers at 4.7%) and once again the Ballon d’Alsace (9.8 kilometers at 6.9%).

After these climbs, the stage awaits its final ascent. The Col du Schirm and Col du Hundsruck must still be climbed, but they pale in comparison to what comes at the finish.

In the last twenty kilometers, the Col du Haag (11.2 kilometers at 7.3%) awaits. This climb becomes especially interesting in the final 1.5 kilometers, where the road consistently rises at nearly 11 percent. Once at the summit, 5.5 flat kilometers remain to the finish at Le Markstein.
